It actually usesMotif, but the binaries are statically linked
with the Motif libraries. So you don't need to have Motif installed
to use Thot on your Linux machine !
We advertise the fact that Thot uses Motif because this has some
side effects (on slowness, size of the binaries and so on ...).
We are serioulsy thinking about removing Motif and using another
package, but for the moment we are focusing on functionalities
and this is not the current priority.
So feel free to download it, you don't need to have Motif to
use it !
