There is a mailing-list dedicated to the support of thot distribution on
Linux, so I've put the list in Carbon-Copy. An archive of the list is
maintained at this URL :
>A problem, though not very bad, with Thot.
>We installed Thot on our office PC. I started it from a Sparc station
>(ELC; black and white terminal), running Solaris (with remote login).
>I added changed xhost permissions, and set the DISPLAY variable in
>Linux. After that I started the editor. This is what I got:
>s1415:~$ Thot 0.95 (c) INRIA-CNRS 1-18-96
>X11 Error : BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
>Motif : XmCacheDelete problem detected at 82311E0
>Please report it to Daniel.Veillard@imag.fr
This message is completely harmless. I made changes in The Motif 2.0
code to avoid a bug in the Image Cache occuring only in a few configurations.
I just left the message to get information on how frequently it appears
and which configuration. I will remove it in the next Thot versions.
>Unable to install full Iso-Latin-1 : 97 of 98 key
>ISO-Latin-1 mapping installed on modifier 1
>Mode_switch key installed on Modifier-1
These are messages produced by the installation of the support
of ISO-Latin-1 keys. E.g the key sequence Alt then a then backquote
will produce an agrave char. Your keyboard map doesn't have enought
entries so one of the extended chars won't be supported. All this will
change in the next Thot release ...
>Everything comes up fine otherwise.
>The Thot window contains the following messages:
>Missing file: ivsymb
>Missing file: ivgraf
You should make the font files located in /usr/local/thot/font
to the X-Server that is actually displaying the Thot windows.
Have a look at the xset command in the X11 distribution.
